Mowing new sod

I mowed my new sod today (5 weeks after it was put in). In one spot (3' by 1") after I mowed the grass was brown. What did I do wrong?

likely you did nothing wrong.
mowing does not make green grass blades turn brown.

odds are the 3x1' strip of sod just didn't take so well. give it some water & TLC - it may recover.
