Laying new grass seed

I've been preparing (or at least trying to) my lawn for the summer. Recently I thatched and aerated and followed up with some new seed. It's been only 4 days, but the package says you should start seeing grass in 5-10 days. However, I still see seed just lying on the soil. I assumed it would have somewhat planted itself. I've never planted seed, so I don't know what to expect. I water it daily and it's been 70 degrees this last week. Am I being too anxious or shoud the seed start taking a different form? thx

I've seeded many lawns .... here in the UK, it grows when the soil temp is 6 degrees C or higher .... it normally takes between 10-15 days before it sprouts

I also cover the seed with a thin layer of topsoil or compost (I normally just throw it over by hand)

don't add weed and feed (the lawn fertilizer that also kills weeds), for at least 8 months after seeding

You will see grass in about 2 weeks after planting.
