Need help with renovating lawn this spring - new home owner!

Hi - I'm new to lawn care but would like to completely renovate my lawn this year. We have 50% crab grass/creeping charlie, extremely hard grass, brown, weeds, etc. Looking for steps to start this spring, and what to do over the summer to have a plush soft green lawn this summer!

Hey there. Minnesota this time of year, can you see your yard under the snow? Not sure about the type of grass you have, however a few tips that go all around. Concerning the crabgrass, it is an annual grass, which will naturally die off, however, in order to prevent it from coming back, your best bet is using a crabgrass preventer, such as Scotts Turf Builder with Halts crabgrass preventer. The key to using this product is getting it down and active before the last frost. Once the ground warms up, the crabgrass seeds will germinate. Considering overall lawn care, remember fertilizing is your best defense from weeds, moss and disease. Once a season is prefered. Hope that helps :D
