Weed in our lawn

Can anyone ID this culprit in our lawn? It acts like a ground cover and chokes the grass in a couple high and drier spots in our yard. I'm thinking something with 2,4-D in it will kill it, since it has a broadleaf, but wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Can't really tell from the picture, are those leaves and stems thick/ fleshy/ succulent? If so it would be purslane.

Purslane is edible. In the recipes section, I posted a recipe for purslane potato salad that comes out really good.

Here's a better picture; the stems don't appear to be succulent as the ones you sent. It seems to grow in mats and gets thick. When it gets dry the leaves shrink considerably.

Maybe so; I've never seen it make a flower though and black medic appears to make a yellow one based on what I saw online. This stuff stays low to the ground and spreads out, not growing taller than the grass.
