St. Augustine mistake

I'm in Central Florida and a beginner to lawn care. I made the mistake of over-applying atrazine to a 200 sf section of grass that had heavy dollar weed. Atrazine applied about two weeks ago and here is a picture of what I have now:

Is this beyond repair? I've read that the only thing that will give it a chance of coming back is heavy water but also that once you get to the brown/hay stage it's beyond repair. If it's too far gone I'd rather move forward than waste more time and water on it.

That certainly doesn't look too good. If you have the time and inclination, you can take a bunch of small plugs from the healthy part of the lawn and plant them in the burned section. By summer's end, it should be on its way to being filled in pretty nicely.

If you are in a rush, first make sure it is dead by pulling some of it out of the ground and checking the low lying runners and roots to see if they have any hope to recoup. If not, remove what's dead, lightly turn over the soil and re-sod.

you have to make sure that the chemical you applied has washedthrough the soil from what I can see from the picture your lawn should come back with timely watering.
