Help to identify weed

Can anyone help me to identify this weed/grass growing in my lawn? It has some characteristics of crabgrass but it did not die over the winter. This started growing last fall, stayed green all winter long (we are in NC) and now seems to be doing great with all the rain and some of the nice warm days we have had. What is this and any suggestion on how to get rid of it? My lawn is tall fescue. Thank you!

Gotcha some goose grass there I think...

This is the biggest pain in my yard; I grab my hori-hori kife and cut it out myself, trying to get the runners if possible (it's alternate name of wire grass comes from the running root systems. I worry about it in my gardens a lot more than in my lawn, but it is not fun... a kissing cuz to crabgrass and a real pain, but in your lawn the TTTF will win out if you cut it out like I do...

Thank you Roger! I'll look into this goose grass to see if that is the culprit but looking closely at some pictures I think you are correct! Is it normal for that stuff to stay green all winter long?

Yeah, it can stay greener than the rest of the turf...

And I am Scott. Roger knows about as much about plants as I do about computers (just enough to be dangerous  ).

But together we are a pretty good team for a plant website...
