Zoysia dying in big patches.

Location: Central Alabama

This emerald zoysia sod was laid in 2009. The damage you see in the pictures manifested itself in about 3-4 days in the 3rd week of June 2010.
We left on vacation and the yard looked fine. Returned home 4 days later and saw this. The back yard is fine. It doesn't look like a fungus and I haven't seen any bugs.. the turf is not loose like you'd expect with grubs.
The guy who put it out came by and didn't have any idea either. It almost looks like a chemical burn because it happened so fast. We last fertilized in 1st week of May. I'm open to suggestions.

Could be chinch bugs. When I've seen their damage on St Augustine grass, it's usually a more cohesive patch, not small patches linked together. But that's still my first suggestion, as they are throughout the South and they love zoysia grass.
