How Late in Spring for Aerating?

Hello

I have not Aerated the back yard in some time. I usully do so for the front as it was in Poorer condition up until a few weeks ago. I have two Dogs, one being a 90 pound retriever that frequently moves about in the small back yard.

I remove the plugs as the Dogs trample them and have muddy paws when they enter the house. As such, I did aerate early spring this year as I did not have the time.

There is a path being made in part of the back yard as the retriever leaves the soil. The grass is thinner there and soil lower as she has trampled it so much, but the whole back yard needs work.

My former lawn care company tried to sell me themselves doing aerating to me, informing me it should be done three times a year. I have read some where you don't do areating in the dead of summer.

So is early, mid june OK for aerating if it not experiencing very hot weather.

oh yes, it has been fairly mild and damp for the last week. I measured over an inch of rain in 4 days. It should be damp enough for my manual core aerator.
