Worm problem

Worms are great right? So what's the problem?
After every big rain we have hundreds upon hundreds of worms coming out of our front lanscapeing areas onto out walkway, driveway, under the garage doors and even up our steps to our front door. Once out they dry up and stick to the surfaces like glue. We need to get out our powerwasher to remove them.
It's a really disgusting sight to see. We figured after the first few times it would eventually stop but it's going on two years now with no improvement.
Any ideas to keep them away from our walkway or control their numbers would be very welcome.

The worms are coming out because they are getting flooded. Sounds like there's probably a drainage problem with the landscaping there.

First off do not try to control their numbers, do as Rainbowgardener said and fix the problem as to why they are coming up. As stated they are being flooded out, probably poor draining soil. Fix that and you won't see them anymore.

Worms are our best friends in the soil. They help aerate and make some of the best fertilizer money can't buy. Sorry you are having this problem but PLEASE don't take it out on the worms, take it up with your drainage problem. Add some organic matter to the area ti may take some time to loosen up the more than likely clay soil you have, you gotta love clay. But it will come around and everything will be peachy again.

Good luck.
