grass seed washed away...

:cry: :?: I laid the seed just before a forcast of rain. Do I Need to
Put something on top of it? And Ohhhhh did we get the rain! But, is it
Nessesary even with little rain? :| :|

It might be. Rain or not, I would cover the seed if it was on a slope, because even water from a hand-held hose or a sprinkler could wash it away. It's possible that there are other reasons to cover it, too, but I'm not sure.

I remember I was always shooing the birds away from the grass seed I sowed a couple of years ago. Keeping the birds from eating it before it has a chance to sprout might be one reason to cover it! :lol:

I wouldn't. The areas I didn't cover before rain sprouted the same day or next day, the area where I covered never grew. If it's a strong storm, then you can, but if it's just a shower and is flat, leave it be.

hi,, if you cover the seed it will trap moisture and heat which seed needs to germinate
