Sod on top of grass seed?

hey all,

I like gardening but not that good or knowledge on it. so for many this may be a simple question.

So I laid some grass seed about 2 weeks ago, in some area it has just broke the surface (about half inch to an inch), in others it has not. My neighbor gave me some left over sod he has which I want to lay on the areas in which I have sowed grass seed in order to make it look really nice (due to the fact we are selling our home). Now I know this makes me sound like a hippie but now I have given life to these little grass seeds I don't want to kill them but laying sod on top.

So the short version now you know the situation.

Will laying sod on top of grass seed do the follow.

A - Kill/stop the rest of the seed germinating which I have laid.
B - kill the grass that has already broke the service

Well, I'm not a professional lawn person or anything like that, but IMO, yes, they will die. You'll be cutting off the light and air they need for photosynthesis, which is how plants make food for themselves. If the grass was mature, then some of it might grow up through the new sod, but not the little 1/2 inch tall seedlings.
