do I have to dig out my old grass???

Hi All

as you can see I'm new, so if I sound like I'm completly stupid then its cause I'm a novice!!

anyway I want to lay a new lawn as my old lawn is looking abit worn and is not level at all, id like to make it higher as well so can I just put top soil all over it with my old grass underneth and then lay new rolls of lawn over it or well I have problems??

thank you for your advice in advance

Hi, yellowt5r. If you don't mind, please check my response in this thread as that poster asked the same question.

About making the lawn higher, I think it will depend on how high you want it. If only a couple or three inches, laying sod will do it automatically. If more than that, you'll want to heed this article on purchasing topsoil. But first, check my answer in the other thread.

Please tell me where you are located.
