Toadstool Lawn

My husband has worked hard over the three years we’ve lived here and now has a beautiful, lush lawn. There is only one problem. We have lots of little toadstools, both in the back shady lawn and the front sunny lawn. How did we get them and how do we get rid of them? Any suggestions?
