Fallen Leaves in the Garden

Hello all,

My new home is surrounded by trees and following hurricane Sandy my yard and garden are now absolutely littered with leaves. With winter coming, is it worth my time to get these leaves out of the garden? Is that important for the health of the garden, or will the situation simply resolve itself over the winter if I leave them there? Also, if I should get them up, any suggestion on method--standard raking, or would that put too much strain on the plants?

Thanks!

Matt

Just been in my garden
raked some leaves from the lawn ,some piled onto the veggie beds a few added to my compost bin.
Have been loading the veg beds with leaves for the last few weeks ,and will be doing so for another few weeks ,the worms are already busy drawing them down into the soil.

I'm busy collecting leaves to put on my flower and veggie beds for mulch.
