Ducks and Peaches

Where everything else in the orchard is so so, this Frost Peach does very well every year. Last year it was so overloaded it was breaking branches.

The peach tree is right outside the duck's night pen. It has no grass or weed competition, concentration of manure and extra water.

I'm thinking this is telling me to build a smaller portable duck house and safe yard. Move it around the orchard.

... As in chicken tractor?
Duck tractor, rabbit tractor -- will you need to design/built them species specific or would you be able to build an all-purpose tractor to put one or the other in depending on what needs to get done?

Beautiful peaches! Look up Paula Dean's Peach cobbler recipe. My family love that. :D

Apple,

First, I only have ducks, I sold off all the rabbits and equipment months ago. Everyone has chickens, ducks are a lot more interesting.

I'm thinking something a little larger than a chicken tractor. It may have to be on wheels and be moved around by a old lawn mower. A mower with the cutting deck removed we call runabouts.

:?: DDF, How come you sold your rabbits :?: Too much work, or do you like the ducks better :?: Gorgeous peaches by the way. They have the best fertilizer set up going for them. :)

NO, Rabbits are no more work than ducks or chickens. I just like chicken better.

My ducks forage the 1/4 acre fenced in area, I couldn't do this with rabbits. The Muscovies are destructive enough.

:) Well I understand you liking chicken better, plus rabbits are so hard to butcher, they just look too cute to do it!! Glad you still have your ducks though. Muscovies are fun ducks. :)

Nice Peaches they Look so tasty I want some now, and I have 2 Pekin Ducks they are Destructive as in they eat most my crops and Bad enough they kill all the Grass with the Rich Poop, I noticed that the Blood Orange Tree gives more fruit, so much that the branches were about 1 foot from touching the ground, I had to cut them down and the Tree is about 12 feet tall

'tractoring' rabbits can lead to a number of diseases, as they're better off never coming in contact with their own poo...

not that anyone has referred to the idea since august.
