Sepp Holzer - the permaculture king

Okay, I have to admit that who the kind of permaculture is can be a bit subjective. So maybe somebody wants to suggest Mollison is king because he came up with the word "permaculture." But I am not alone in thinking that Sepp Holzer is the leader in permaculture. Sepp may have been practicing permaculture before Mollison made up the word. But .... that's a whole different discussion.

Sepp has about 100 acres in the austrian alps. It started off as dry land covered in conifers.

Now it has about 70 ponds and is riddled with a rich diversity of trees and plants. Nothing is grown in rows. Everything is about diversity. Seeds are mixed and tossed around. There are lots of terraces and lots of hugelkultur.

This guy is growing citrus where it gets to be 20 below in winter!

No irrigation. No fertilizer.
