Started a hugelkulture bed!

I had to get a backhoe in to do some work on my water line and while he was here I had him dig me a trench! I have been trying to kill off an old mulberry hedge for several years and the hoe was just the ticket!

I trimmed off my old growth pampas grass and put that in the bottom then piled on all of the sizable logs I could find in the old wood pile. Next I'm going to layer in some manure and top it all off with the dirt from the trench.

I wish I had more logs to dump in first. Maybe some creative alley driving will help me find more!
