hydrangea burn

I live in coastal NC where we get a lot of sun (when we're not getting hurricanes). Even though I water the hydrangeas either in the morning or late in the day after work, the blossoms have turned brown. Some seem to be recovering, but I don't know if I should "deadhead" them or just leave them alone. I just bought this house 2 months ago, so "inherited" the hydrangeas.

Hello, I recently was having the same problem and the advice was given to me that I could actually be over-watering. If you water every day, you might be rotting the top of the roots while drying out the bottom ones. The advice given to me was to give it one very long thorough watering once a week, and then letting them be and seeing what happens.

Good luck!

James

Thank you James. Except for the unavoidable rain, I will limit my watering to once a week and see how they do. Most of them are beautiful and in that purpleish hue.
