Hydrangea tree - brown leaf tips

I am a novice gardener. I was given a hydrangea trea this year and have it in a fairly large pot. The plant was doing great until about three weeks ago, when the tips of the leaves started turning brown. It is flowering now, but the leaf tips continue to brown. I water it at least every other day with lots of water. We are in San Diego. The hydrangea tree is under a percola, so it is in the shade part of the day but in the sun for several hours, too. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That is a thirsty plant and one that wants to be a bigger trre than that pot will allow; brown tips are almost always a lack of water and considering your locale and time of year I am fairly certain that's it...
