Layering to transplanting

Dear Helpful Gardener,

After merely one week pllus of layering, I see some fine roots growing.

Should I transplant them into ground or should I keep them in pots until after winter? I am worried they are too young and fragile to withstand the winter cold.

I heard autumn is th ebest season to transplant, does it applies to my case too? They are new propagated new hydrangea with maximum length of 20cm to 25cm.

Thank you in advance.

I think your best bet is to try and get them started in the ground ASAP (watering VERY regularly) and give them protection for that first winter. Good work!
