Spring Promise from my Hydrangeas

I think the beauty of Hydrangeas is multi season. In spring the emerging leaves followed by the broccoli stage of the blossoms are beautiful and exciting. Then the blossoms start to show color, followed by exuberant colors of blossoms and then as they fade, they turn into fall reds, yellows and oranges. In our PNW climate they come out of dormancy around Feb and stay wonderfully dramatic till after frost. We leave the flower heads on the bushes all winter for added interest, cutting them and painting some to be used for flower arrangements. Huge arrangements are taken to a local woman's shelter for holiday decorations.
Here is a link to an album of photographs of some of my hydrangeas taken this Saturday, May 20, 2016.
