Left Hydrangeas in July sun for 4 days no water - dead?

Wed Jul 04, 2007 1:47 am

We went away for the weekend and did not make arrangements to have our plants watered. They hydrangeas had only been in the ground for three weeks and it does not look as though they will survive. They look dreadful. We've watered at morning and night for two days now and no rebound.

Any tips? How much water do they need?

PS (we planted in petty thich, clayish soil, with out much potting soil becasue we didn't have any).

They may surprise you and come back - give them a month, keep watering (don't let the clayish soil get too waterlogged, I water mine in clay-mixed soil every other day, some of those have been in-ground for only 2 months now). The clay usually holds water really well, so they should make a rebound. Give them time!
