Growing hydrangeas at higher altitudes?

Hello to everyone from the north of Spain. I,m new to the forum and would be glad to have info on whether I can grow hydrangeas where I live.
I am 4oooft. up on a beautiful south facing hillside. The soil is very good but over the year there is a great deal of contrast in temperature! Often very sunny but at times very cold at night. Also in summer can be very dry but I have a good source of water.
I have one or two sheltered corners? The soil is quite acid here so perhaps it would be possible to keep a good blue colour.

Best wishes and hoping someone has some experience to share with me on this area? I am a retired lady!

Annette. :)

Hydrangeas can grow from zone 8 to zones 4 or 5. Add lots of compost to the planting bed. They don't like drought or hot sun. There are several helpful posts here on the hydrangea forum you might want to read through for some ideas of how to grow them and any problems you might encounter. There are several links to some informative sites too.
