How do you dry hydranga blooms for floral arrangements for the house.

You can clip the blooms off and hang them upside down in a cool, dry place.

OR

You can place the blooms in a box and cover with silica gel.

What works best for me and gives the nicest colors is that I wait until all the flowers are open and just starting to dry on the plant. I seem to get better shades of pinks, purples, and blues in the flowers. I cut the flowers in the morning and place in a vase with a little bit of water and do not add any more once that is gone. The flowers then just dry on their own.
