Frozen Hydrangeas

We recently planted new garden beds with four young hydrangea bushes. After a week, everything was looking fine. We left town for the weekend and temperatures went from the 70's to snowing. I wasn't around to protect the bushes, so now they are all brown and dying. Now it is in the 60's again, and they're saying that the winter freeze should be over. Is there anything I can do to save the bushes? Any advice would be so helpful! --Beth

They may leaf back out for you Beth. It kind of depends on how much (if any) damage the roots took. These guys will be a little more tender than the maple you have.

They are root hardy, but any flower buds are probably zapped at this point...

Hydrangea 'Endless Summer' flowers on first year wood, so you would get flowers on the new growth. Might be worth a try...
