When to transfer Hydrangea from Pot to Soil?

Please Help!! I received a hydrangea for a valentine present from my husband. I have never had one before, and I don't know what to do with it. I live in Alabama, and it says to wait until the last frost to plant. Problem is the plant is trying to die. Is there anything I can do to keep it healthy until I can put it in the ground??? The leaves are begining to wilt.

Water dear, the plant is all about water...

Maybe repot in a larger container until spring, probably growing leaps and bounds in the little container it started life in. Bump it up, water regularly and DON'T PANIC :!: :?:

Yes, and as per the advice that I gave another member, do not place your plant in a windowsill. Keep it in a well lit area.

Sun through glass can burn tender new leaves...
