hydrangeas

I keep reading about putting iron sulfate or aluminum sulfate on my Nikko hydrangea and it will help it be bluer. How much should I put on? Like half of a bag or 3 tablespoons, I have no clue. Should I put it on top of the soil aroung the trunk and let it sink in or dig around the dirt right there and spinkle it in? Or out from the trunk of the bush? HOW MUCH? and WHEN? and how much is too much?
Thanks

Nanci, I have moved this thread to the Hydrangeas Forum and given you the same link I posted a while back about changing color in hydrangeas. Please see the previous color discussion here at The Helpful Gardener is at

To avoid such exact duplication of topic, I have locked this thread and would invite everyone with experience in changing hydrangea color to post your own story at the above thread!
