Also no flowers on hydrangea

I am new to the forum. I saw the question posted earlier and have the same problem however I do not trim my bushes. I do cut some flowers over the summer for arrangements. The past few years I had tons of flowers, last year only 2 or 3 on 7 seven bushes. This year I have none. I am attributing it to the very cold winter we had last year but I am still confused as to why I have been getting fewer and fewer every year. Is there a fertiizer that would help. Can I protect them over the winter months? I love those flowers, they are so beautiful when I get them. I hope you can help. Thanks, Anna

You are right about the winter; the fact that you are getting less and less is probably shade conditions (remember that trees are getting older and bigger too). It could be soil fertility, but it's usually light; check that first and limb up trees to let in more light..
