Growing mint from cuttings

ok, I read up how to...my mint cutting has been in a cup of water for 5 days or so.

it looks like this

What do I do now?

I guess you can either plant it in the soil or wait for the roots to develop further.

As soon as a bit of root growth develops, you can move it to a pot. I would start out with a small pot and size up as plant and roots develop more fully. Lots plants can be propagated in this fashion. Some years I pinch suckers from tomato plants in May and set them in water. They will develop roots in one or two weeks and then can be set in pots to grow until ready to move into the garden. They can then be used as a fresh set of plants that will give you a late season crop of tomatoes. Kind of neat, being able to use clones of your early tomatoes to extend the season.

Well...I cut the top three to four inches off my mint plant...and I stuck it in a glass of water...only the bottom 1/4 I stick in...I taped it to the side...make sure its a glass so you can see its progress..

and then wait 5 days at least...

Well my mint plant isn't that big. It's only around 3 inches high.

I would wait until at least 7-8 inches to try this...the biggest the cutting the best...I think...all of the other cuttings were a lot smaller and didnt produce roots

I've actually also done the same thing. I have successfully cloned mints and basil cuttings.

Knight -- Interesting method with the sugar! I'm adding a pinch to the mint cuttings I have right now.

I'm afraid they're a bit too on the short side though. We'll see how it goes!
