How Do I Prune Lavender?

I have new lavender I recently bought from the store. They're all (4) in pots. I have looked for videos on NEW plants to prune but have found nothing. I just want to make sure I did it right. I killed mine last time because I didn't realize just how fickle they are but I have read research online and watched YouTube videos on this but have gotten no clear answers. Attached is my largest plant, after what I think is the right way to prune it. (It has already produced flowers)

as you harvest your flowers, just cut the stems down to almost the bottom of where the leaves are. Don't cut in to the hard woody part at the bottom. If you do that, that stem won't grow back.

I usually only cut half the lavender at a time. I cut the other half only after the new growth flushes out on the lower stem of the side I did not cut.
