Can I eat this mint?

A bunch of this mint or mint doppelganger popped up when I was de-weeding the back yard, and I was very excited. Please tell me it's ok. :) Or save my life, whichever.

Welcome to the forum! It looks like peppermint, and I haven't heard of any poisonous mints, though I'm no expert. And don't get too exited - if you found it while weeding your yard, that won't be the end of it!

What concerns me most is that as far as I can tell, the stem is round. Or maybe I just don't know how to define stem shapes. It also didn't grow long enough to flower.

You can click on the photo to enlarge it; it looks square to me.
