What's wrong with my peppermint plant?

Hi everyone! I'm new to helpful gardener, and to gardening itself, and I've been having a bit of trouble with my peppermint plant. I've had this plant for months now, and it's been fine until recently. I started to notice yellowing leaves close to the soil and white spots on almost all of the leaves. This is my first experience growing mint, so I'm not really sure what the problem could be. Any ideas?

Those tiny white spots are usually sign of sucking insects or mites. They are usually on the UNDERSIDE of the leaves. Examine closely, use magnifying glass, jeweler's loupe, or take sharply focused photos with macro lense if possible and upload to computer screen.
