Hello,
I wondered if anyone could help me identify this random leafy stem that's appeared in my potted mint plant?
It seems to have no scent, soft to touch and quite limp.
I have done a quick search, might be "Lamb's quarters" but I have no idea how it could've gotten there.
Thank you!

That is what it looks like, and if you have enough of it, you can use it in some Mexican recipes (others too, but this is what I've used it in). I wish it was one of those weeds that runs rampant in my garden, since I can use it, but alas, I only see it here and there. Funny thing is, one of the places I see it every season is my mint patch! LOL

Yes - that is "Lambs Quarters".
It's considered an edible "weed" & frequently gathered by folks into wild foraging. Can be eaten raw in salads or sautéed like spinach.
As to how you ended up with it - a seed could have been in with your mint seedling (if you bought the mint as a seedling) or even in your potting soil. Or simply could have landed in your pot after the fact. It shows up often in my container plants here & Lord only knows how.
