Mint

Oh that mint! Mine is hitting the summer doldrums. I have 3 varieties going, KY Col, and 2 spearmints. All start to get funky and slow down in the heat, and there's the caterpiller that sets up housekeeping, and a fungus (or something) that causes lower leaves to go south. I pick for the market, and the amounts of usable getting less! Market customers say the same thing, that mint isn't happy in the MidSouth in the summer. Mine is all in part sun.

The patch in ground, a 4 x 4 dedicated KY Col is starting to get ratty, and has plenty of new growth showing from the ground. But those new shoots don't go very far in the heat! Same for others in large containers.

I think it doesn't like temps up in the 90's, and that's when we need it for summer cooler drinks! Sigh.
