Hey guys, I have a (what I think is) juniper in front of my house, which to my guess is J. horizontalis. The thing is I can't be sure and I read online that although most juniper berries are edible, some are poisonous. Am I correct in my identification, and if so, can I eat the berries from this guy? Thanks for the help.
edit: didn't post the picture I wanted to show--

No offense, but there's absolutely no way anyone would be able to even remotely identify the type/variety of Juniper you have from that photo - never mind its safe edibility. And since the vast majority of Junipers are extremely similar in bark & leaf texture, berries, etc., etc., I wouldn't trust anyone's diagnosis even if you supplied a closeup pic - especially with regards to something you want to eat.
If you're truly bent on consuming berries from your shrubs, I'd consult a local expert - an extension agent, horticulturist, etc., etc. - rather than rely on an I.d. from internet strangers.
