This is my first post on this forum so I'll start by saying hello to everyone.

I started growing some organic coriander this year in doors on my windowsil but recently I've discovered it's covered in some kind of brown fly I was advised to use soapy water to get rid of it but as I'm planning on cooking with it I'm not too keen on doing this.

The coriander shares a 2ft long pot with some organic basil but the flys seem to be staying away from it, does anyone know what I can use to get rid of these pests??

Any help would be much obliged....

In the organic section of the forums I have a thread on Beneficial insects. I believe that there are plants listed in there that will attract insect predators and repel insect pests. If you can't find them there, it is really easy to do a google search for the same thing.

Just looked in another thread that I have and I think it was GREY who said that if you sprinkle pepper around plants that it repels certain insects. Give it a try

Lemon balm in the pot might work as well...

Cilantro (coriander) is a tricky one that likes a bit of shade, so that direct light in the window may be what's keeping it weak (bugs don't attack strong plants). I don't recommend mixed herb containers unless you are VERY sure that ALL the inhabitants have the same needs...
