Hi I'm New to this forum and have a question about Basil

I have a new Basil plant and it started to flourish really well until last week. It has these tiny brown bugs on the leaves that look like dirt specks on the leaves. I noticed webs as well.

I googled and think they might spider mites (from what I was reading). If they are how do I get rid of them without ruining the use of the Basil? I think they have migrated to my Oregano also.

Thanks

You didn't say if your plants are indoors/ outdoors/ in containers or anything about where you are and what your climate is like.

But to start with spider mites flourish in hot, dry conditions. If you are talking about house plants, basically all you need to do to control spider mites is keep your plants adequately watered and mist them frequently (once a day, maybe twice daily while you are battling the mites) and thoroughly, including undersides of leaves.

For outdoor plants just hose them off thoroughly, again including undersides of leaves.

For potted plants, you might start by washing the plant off with a soapy water solution to get rid of the mites and webs.
