Can anyone tell me how to proceed re: those funky and kinda cute flowers on my garlic?
Have read that they should be snipped off and also that they should be kept intact...
Any info, appreciated -

You mean the scapes? This has some pictures of them:

A long shoot that comes up and has a pointy/ kind of pyramid shaped end something like an elf hat?
We have just been having a discussion of them:

I think consensus is they should be harvested to keep the plant putting energy in to making garlic cloves. The scapes are really tasty to cook with.

hey all - I've never cut the scapes off. They make the cutest little clusters of garlic after they bloom and dry. I have actually planted them and did not know that the clove of garlic from in the ground was the right thing to plant.
Anyway, it's nice to know what they're called. I think they make the garlic look like an alien plant. They're so cute...
