Chives - To Flower or Not to Flower?

My chives are going nuts and I was plucking off any buds that came up but it seems to be fighting back with a vengeance. I started plucking off the flower buds because I know this is what you do with basil. Does the same go with chives? Should I pluck off the flowers?

I like to eat the flowers, others I let go to seed for more chives

I just planted some chives this year, so I look forward to the time when they are "going nuts" and spreading - sounds like more free chives to me!

I don't pick the flowers unless I want to use them. It doesn't seem to slow them down if you let them flower. The are very nice in my flower beds. Add interest and they are a great addition to my cooking. I started some Chinese chives this season. I am just waiting to prepare my beds before planting.

Thanks everyone! I ended up using the flowers in a salad. It really made the salad pretty and taste excellent. My chive plant is HUGE and I really need to eat more of it.
