When to know if Lavender died?

Hi,

I had some Lavender last year that I did not take care of well. What I had to do was prune off lots of the leaves. Right now it is just a stump. When should I see new growth? Cause honestly I don't know if it is live or dead.

I will get a pic tomorrow. It is in a 12 inch pot. I did this pruning right before winter. But it has stayed the same since. I am hoping I see new growth soon. Just wanna know when I should see it, cause if I don't then I'll know it is dead.

Is the pot indoors or out?

I don't know much about how lavender grows in So Cal. Mine is still totally dormant, because it is winter here.

But if you want to know if it is alive or dead, snap a little twig and see if it is green inside. If it is all brown and dry and snaps easily, it's dead.

Otherwise, be patient for awhile and see what happens.... :)
