Fragile thyme branches?

Has anyone ever experienced their thyme's branches falling off? I see the broken branches lying near the plant, or tangled in the thyme's other branches. The broken branches have green leaves and don't seem to have any disease or pest. They seem to be breaking off on the side facing the wall of the next terrace. Any ideas?

is there something going on that's making the branches rub against the fence or terrace? the additional friction from a wind or something of the sort when there's resistance against the branch trying to move with the wind could be weakening the branch some.
