My flowering patch is afflicted by this pestiferous plant which I have found, after much research, is called Berberis Thundergii. There's lots of information on the net on how to grow this plant, but none on how to rid my garden of it. It's got deep roots, thorny stems and seems to propogate without invitation. I keep cutting it down, but it grows back twice as strong. Can anyone help? I'm really desperate.

This is a duplicate post; same question was also in Flower Gardening. It gets confusing if we have separate discussions of the same question going on it different places. So I'm going to lock this thread.
For the record Japanese barberry is a shrub, not a flower or an herb. I would have put the question under Trees, Shrubs, Hedges.
