CURRY plant in pot, how to plant?

End of the year going out of plant business sale I got a Curry plant in a 6" pot.

Has anyone every planted curry?

I don't know anything about his plant. What kind of soil and weather conditions does it like?

I haven't grown it, but I found this:

https://culinaryherbguide.com/growing/growingcurryplant.htm

I was surprised to find it under culinary herbs. You understand that you can't actually grow curry (the spice) because it is actually a mixture of a bunch of spices (turmeric, coriander, cayenne, etc).

Hope it helps some!

Some recipes use curry leaves as a flavouring. I have this recipe for curried liver from Sri Lanka which uses curry leaves. The leaves are quite fragrant and give a good flavour. The leaves also keep for ages in the refrigerator. I'd love a curry leaf plant!

hello!

the spice known as "curry" is a mixture of different spices.

there's also a "curry plant" but it is not related with the spice from what I know.. It is so called because of the smell of the leaves that reminds to the smell of curry. Here is some infomation : https://www.plantoftheweek.org/week129.shtml

Hope this may help you :D

Curry Leaf plant is a common plant used in Indian cooking. The leaves are very fragrant and give a unique flavor. They are used to temper the oil in many recipes. Can be grown both outdoors and indoors (in colder climates) and needs a fair bit of light. I have only grown in large pots.
Hope that helps.

I suppose neither of the ones you mention. The one I am talking about is
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murraya_koenigii

I got it from my local nursery (Northern CA) and it was listed as a Curry Leaf plant. In Hindi (Indian language) we call is Kadipatta. Our local indian stores also seem to carry this plant during the summers. It is a heat loving plant and hence I grow it in pots that I can take indoors in the winter but I know folks in Southern US that grow in the ground in their backyard.

Hope this helps.
