Help my flat lear parsley in spotted!

I have only been gardening for 3 years and my experience with parsley has always been good, but this year my parsley came up speckled. I did have marigolds next to it, and was wondering if that had an effect on the parsley. Is it a bad thing to plant flowers among the herbs or vegetables, since my garden is also a decorative patio area??????????? -- Carolyn
