bloodroot

The bloodroot is there! I was worried ad a small tree had made s mess and work to get it out.
After the blooms has umbrella leaves that go down in heat of summer. Now I can mark and clean and work around the plant

Back to real keyboard! A small tree had fallen over, and to get it out lots of trampling. I figured it could be history for the plant, and was happily surprised to see the blooms! You can see the leaves starting to open.
I grow some just because. I found a start at a garden center, and planted. Some Natives used the fleshy root as a dye (reddish), mainly for quills.
