Blood root

Is this a hearty orchid?

The small leaf size and jumbo flower makes me wonder.

Bloodroot Sanguinaria canadensis is a woodland plant native to Eastern US and Canada. It shows in the spring with a lovely white star flower, then the umbrella leaves grow out, all less than 10" high. It often dyes back in the heat of summer, not seen again until spring! The root is fleshy and reddish. It was used as a red dye by Natives, especially for quills (porcupine). Spreads slowly. It is a protected plant.

Anyway, not an orchid!
