The Great Basin Wild Rye

This grass, native from Alberta to Northern California, amazes me. I collected seeds from plants I found on a rocky hill a few years ago and it sure takes to my pampering it.
What I have in my yard is even more impressive than the grass where I collected the seeds. The wild rye two weeks ago and today.

Beautiful! Love to see people working with native grasses. Yours works quite well as an ornamental grass.

Wow, I've never heard of this grass before. I've got its cousin, hairy wildrye (Elymus innovatus) in my garden, but I can't claim that it looks nearly that striking. Yet!
