Can anyone identify these 2 plants ? I bought a wooded 4.5 acre hillside lot that was cleared 4 or 5 years ago in central NH. The snow has just barely melted and these are popping up all over the place.
Thanks in advance.
Jim

The bottom two pictures are wintergreen Gaultheria procumbens, sometimes also called checkerberry.
You are very lucky to have it. I keep trying to grow it, but it wants acidic soil and I don't have that. It is a lovely evergreen groundcover that keeps those berries all winter. The leaves are used for wintergreen tea or flavorings.
The top two are some kind of baby conifer, looks like some kind of pine tree, but I'm not real knowledgeable about conifers and that one is pretty little.

Thank you for the checkerberry ID. Yes I am lucky. Lucky to have been able to purchase this land. We are excited to try the tea now . The checkerberry plants are all over the place where the sun shines.
Still stumped on the other though. I have looked at thousands of seedling pics on the web tring to ID the other plant.
Here is another pic that's been blown up a bit.
Thanks again.
