Wildflower/weed ID

Hello! This is my first post here, although I've been lurking for a few days. I've been looking for a good gardening forum that has CURRENT threads, and I finally found it! I finally decided to post since I've been looking at these weeds all day. They're all over my garden and surrounding lawn. Can anyone help me identify this? TIA!!

Welcome to The Helpful Gardener forum! I'm glad you found us! :)

I'm not absolutely positive, I think that might be a plant commonly known in Oregon as "sticky weed." If the plant doesn't have a tendency to cling to your clothing when you touch it, then it is not "sticky weed."

The official name is Galium Aparine, but it has many common names.

If you think my ID might be the plant you have there, you can read more about it in this older thread. Scroll down to the 8th post in the thread to read about Sticky Weed:

Thanks for the quick reply! It doesn't stick to my cloths or have a sticky feel to it. Maybe too early? They have small white flowers on the top and stick up about six inches above the grass. Thanks for your help, though! I just want to ID these so I know why thy are growing. In case my soil lacks anything. Or if they are biennial since I don't recall seeing these last year

The "sticky" is under the leaves, if it's what I have in my front area. Just run your fingers along the underside of a leaf. No thorns or nastiness for the fingers; just a tendency for them to "stick" to the underside of the leaf.

I let it be out front, because it's fighting back and winning! :D against kikuyu grass. I just wish it would win a little faster...I think DH must be pulling it out while I leave it in.... :?:

Sticky weed is no joke. I'm pretty sure that's what I have been dealing with and it's a pain in the butt. It took over entire gardens, scraped up my arms when removed, and I noticed stickers all over my jeans, and my dogs! It clibs fences and other plants around it as well as crawls all over the ground. I've filled 4 trashbags full of it I'm gonna let rot for a while. Hopefully the stickers(seeds) rot as well.

I can't get a good look at the basal rosette of leaves (which have different shape than the flowering shoots), but I'm pretty sure this is Upland Cress (Barbarea verna).

In my garden they're bolting and flowering/going to seed all over my garden right now. It's another edible weed in my no-chemical/organically managed garden that I vacillate between to pull or not to pull?

I looked up pictures of upland cress and it doesn't look that thick. I'll go get more pictures taken of it. Thanks!

here's some better pictures. I don't plan on eating them, if they are edible. I just want to know if I can compost them, or if they're going to seed already or if they're invasive. Just to be prepared! Thanks!

Closeup of the bottom of the plant and the root. The leaves are not sticky or furry.

Nope, I'm pretty sure that's not the plant I know as Sticky Weed. :)

I found the name! Hairy bittercress. Apparently it is a very invasive weed that somehow shoots the seeds out up to 10 feet and it has a 90% germination rate. I don't like it... not one bit :)
