Small Zelkova

Here are a few pictures of a small Zelkova I've had for a while now.

As it was at purchase in May 2004:

What I found the following spring when I re-potted it. The top is not great and the bottom is even worse.

2005:

After removing one of the vertical roots and re-potting higher.

I cannot locate a picture for 2007 but this is what it looked like then and before the recent chop. Notice the obvious reverse taper.

And after the chop. About 2 1/2 inches tall and 5/8 in Dia. I have wanted to try to develop a small sized broom. I have a large tree in the ground that I might chop later this year after the snow melts.

That is quite interesting. You essentially have a root cutting. How are the roots looking now? This is similar to what I am planning to do with my cork bark elm only mine might actually be a little smaller than that. This is gonna be one cute little tree.
